Hey there,
Excited about the upcoming bank holiday weekend? I know I am!
But before we all take off for some well-deserved R&R, let's talk about something that's not so fabulous.
Feeling like an imposter in your own industry!
As a social media manager, I've definitely had my fair share of moments where I've looked at other people doing what I do and thought, "Am I in the wrong line of work?" But hey, we're all human, and it's natural to doubt ourselves from time to time.
In fact, I had one of these moments just this week.
So, I launched a lead magnet campaign, offering readers a free gift, (Who can resist a free gift) all they had to do was drop me an email, (Easy enough?) and boy was I excited to see the email notifications popping up in my inbox!
But after eagerly opening each one, I was faced with the cold, hard truth: only nine people had asked for the free gift.
Now, I know that's not exactly the viral sensation I was hoping for, but hey, it's a decent start for a humble social media manager like me, right?
After taking a moment to reflect on the results, (turns out, A lot of you can resist a free gift)
I realised my mistake:
I wasn't crystal clear about what the free gift actually was. Oops!
But, as the wise old saying goes, we learn from our mistakes. And if we don't make any mistakes, how can we possibly learn and grow?
So, while my lead magnet campaign may not have been a runaway success, I've taken the lesson to heart and I'm ready to try again. And who knows? Maybe the next one will be so irresistible that my inbox will be overflowing with emails!
But in all seriousness, mistakes happen, even to us social media gurus. The important thing is to learn from them and keep pushing forward.
"NO-ONE IS PERFECT"
As Joy Foster, founder of TechPixies, says, "Done, not perfect." Which is a simple yet powerful philosophy that encourages us to take action and not get bogged down in perfectionism. And let's be honest, as a social media manager, I'm not perfect. I struggle with content creation, getting leads and analytics just like everyone else.
But you know what? That's okay. I can analyse the data at the end of a campaign, figure out what worked and what didn't, and make a plan to move forward in the right direction next time.
So, what's the moral of the story here?
It's okay to make mistakes and experience setbacks. In fact, it's necessary for growth and learning. As an almost-40-year-old woman with my fair share of struggles and fears, I'm committed to continuous learning and growth, both personally and professionally.
But that's enough about my campaign blunders.
Let's talk about my fitness journey because we all need a break from social media once in a while.
This week, I didn't do as much as I wanted to, but I did something. "Done, not perfect," remember? I used my weighted belt three times for 30 minutes each time, and I hit the cross-trainer for 15 minutes a few times a day for five out of seven days.
So if you are looking for a social media manager who understands your struggles and fears? both in business and life!
You're in luck because as a real woman with real issues, I'm even more committed to helping businesses like yours thrive on social media.
Let's connect and work together to make your social media presence shine!
That's all for this week, folks! Join me again next Friday for more insights and musings. And hey, if you're in need of a social media daily tracker, (for free) you know what to do! *Email me with free gift in the subject line*
Take care
Claire Louise
